Two Danish startups among the Arctic15 finalists

On 22 September 2011, 15 of the hottest Nordic and Baltic startups will launch their businesses and services at Arctic15. Arctic15 is the event where the Nordic and Baltic startups meet every year. It brings together the entrepreneurs and investors from all around the region and beyond.

The event is part of ArcticStartup, a pioneering technology website founded in 2007 reporting on technology startups and growth entrepreneurship from the Nordic and the Baltic countries.

Among the 15 finalists for the startup competition part of Arctic15 are two Danish startups, Conferize (“LinkedIn for Conferences”) and Graduateland which brings together students and graduates, employers and universities across Europe by creating a unique trinity of international job searching SaaS recruitment tools and plug and play job portals for university websites.

Conferize is founded by Martin Ferro-Thomsen, who also co-founded Issuu, a successful Danish publishing platform startup which has among its investors, Sunstone Capital, and counts among its board members, Henrik Werdelin.

Graduateland seems to be a somewhat more established startup claiming to be Europe’s largest career and education portal for students and graduates. It was established in the first quarter of 2010 by Jens Reimer Olesen, Jesper Reeh Petersen, Jonas Reeh Petersen, Morten Petersen and Patrick Teglgård Lund.

Good luck to Graduateland and Conferize in the Arctic15 competition!

NB: Update 25-09-2011: Graduateland received the most votes and won the Public Votes Prize, Graduateland will receive 5000 euros worth of advertising on ArcticStartup to promote the product.
