Yesterday (Friday) I had lunch at the venerable old Danish publishing house Gyldendal with Cliff Thaudahl Hansen (who is the brother of Claus Thaudahl Hansen at KPMG). Among other jobs Cliff is in charge of the online ativities at Gyldendal regarding encyclopedias, dictionaries and similar products. This is not an easy job in a world of Wikipedia etc. Naturally, we were discussing new online business models eg. those built around creative commons.
With new blood – such as Cliff – in the corridors and hallways of old media I think that there is hope for the new and the old worlds of media can meet somewhere (with the pewndulum definitely swung mostly in the direction of the new).
